A Healing Journey? Why?!

Recently, I was asked when does your healing journey end?

At the time, I said quite a few things in the context of a follow-up question: what do you have to achieve in order to feel that your journey's ended?

First thing is first, what is a healing journey?

I think that's a very personal question, don't you? Therefore, I think it has a variety of very personal and profound meanings for many different people.

So in a nutshell & on a personal level, I'd say that it is a journey of self-discovery. Now, if you can tell me that a journey of 'knowing thyself' has an end, then I'll tell you that my healing journey has an end.

Perhaps you are an individual who likes to get into the juicy stuff & so I'll do a personal break down of what a healing journey means to me, perhaps you can resonate, and this is by no means an exhaustive list nor in a chronological order:

  • emotional intelligence
  • understanding your own triggers
  • self-acceptance
  • contemplation
  • constructive self-criticism
  • self-love in the context of loving my Creator (looking after the trust, and trusting Him that He gave me all that I need)
  • emotional literacy
  • unpacking traumas ( individual, generational, intergenerational)
  • letting go
  • self-awareness
  • understanding types of abuses
  • aspiration to evolve into the better version on me ( a higher self )
  • an understanding of the reason behind my likes and dislikes
  • why I find myself in certain situations
  • e.t.c

One may argue that whatever has a beginning has an end, and I have seen sisters advertise themselves as 'healed'. However, they are entitled. How I see it is like the parable of peeling away at onion layers. So those tears will come.

But why go on a healing journey?

The short answer?

In my belief, there is a saying "whomsoever knows himself knows thy Lord".

So....What does embarking on a healing journey mean to you? Do you think it's a journey worth taking? And do you think a healing journey has an end?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Smooth sailing on your healing journey!
