Why This Course?

You're nearly there, sis! Absolutely awesome! رائعاً للغاية

All it took was the first step, and you kept putting that one foot in front of the other., and now you're here!...

...just one step away from the last module.

Before you proceed, you know the drill, sis! How're you feeling thus far? Feeling confident? If not do trace your steps back to where you lost it, and reach out to me in your student portal or via the group.

Remember! You are not alone in this!

Time to further add to your knowledge of the dynamics involved in the next handful of Arabic letters and increase your Arabic vocabulary memory bank.

Just like in the previous Afrabics Bitesize mini-courses, this little journey is manageable, optionally self-paced, you're supported within a community of women who look like you and understand your struggles as a ''Black'' sister.

About Your Tutor Matshidiso (Mat-see-dee-soh)

Providing you with an Afro-creative interactive course is a journey that started way back in University. Since then and for a period of about 7 years I taught English as a second language to Arabic speakers of various age groups before taking a break. I now tutor online and have been teaching for about 12 years now to learners of various nationalities.

Listening to the experiences of ''Black'' sisters including my own who continue to be sensitised (consciously or who are unaware) by the accumulated stress and trauma that can come with the experiences of being of African heritage. Marginalisation, exclusion, racism & passive aggressiveness exposure can be traumatic, and some learning spaces perpetuate this negative experience for POC, and for ''Black'' women in particular due to various reasons such as not being trauma informed, lack of openness to other cultures or simply owing to their preference to their own culture and thus marginalising others.

So I've taken building this course to heart. A mini course series where I hope you can feel supported and feel welcome to celebrate you as a woman of African heritage as you continue your Arabic learning journey.
